This is the eighth in a series of articles titled the 10 steps to success. This is a guide based on 15 years of experience as an owner operator, small fleet owner and consultant to hundreds of owner operators. This is what I consider to be the 10 most important things you can do to achieve success throughout your career as an owner operator.

Basically you are creating a whole new way to look at money. There is nothing wrong with wanting more money. Most of us think the only way to see our bank balances get bigger is to earn more. While that is true to a certain degree, you can also watch your money grow by simply spending less. Sooner or later we realize that just having “stuff” isn’t all that great.

How many children have said to their parents ‘Just use your credit card”? How many students in high school learn how to handle money? Do college students understand that all those lovely credit cards they are using will have to be paid off someday? By the time we reach the real world at age 21 many of us will already have hard lessons to learn.
