For whatever reason, many drivers have been requesting their credit report from DOTJobHistory recently and that is not a service we offer. However, there is an easy way to get your credit report and I would recommend you do so.

I help drivers get their DAC report fast so they may correct errors, more easily complete employment applications, store it securely on-line and provide tools so the information can be used by drivers to get a job.Interestingly, one of the more common questions I get doesn’t deal with the above, but instead is more basic: “Exactly what’s on a DAC?”

When you apply for a commercial driving job, federal regulations require your prospective employer to perform a background investigation. Many trucking companies (and most of the largest) use a private company to help them obtain this information. The most used company is USIS, previously known as DAC Services.

If you have a negative on your driving, employment or criminal record, these three sentences may not get you through. As discussed in last month’s column, I am frequently asked if a particular “negative” will keep someone from getting a good driving job. The negative can range anywhere from a speeding ticket, to a criminal offense, to load abandonment to a no-fault accident.
