The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published its
proposed revisions to the entry-level driver training standards for
operators of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in interstate operations
that are required to possess a commercial driver’s license (CDL). The
proposed rule appeared in the December 26, 2007, Federal Register.

The requirements regarding random alcohol and drug testing are
specified in §382.305 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
(FMCSR).

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published
notice of its official withdrawal of the November 3, 2004, Supplemental
notice of proposed rulemaking (SNPRM) on supporting documents in the
October 25, 2007, Federal Register. The decision was effective
immediately. The FMCSA also indicated its intention to publish a new
notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) at a later date.
