In the categories of health, medicine and nutrition misleading names abound. The use of words such as natural, reduced, sugar-free, low-fat, cure, prevent and a host of other names and catch phrases.The word “natural” in foods, for example, seems to invoke a fuzzy, warm feeling about the ingredients.  Everything in life starts out “natural” it’s the mixing, compounding and deviations that have a tendency to make the label “natural” a stretch.

Not very long ago one of our Fitness Road clients came into the center and began to ask questions about his blood pressure and the medication his doctor had prescribed to help control it’s elevation.

In our quest to be healthy, many of us purchase what we think are “healthy” foods and beverages. If a product calls itself “heart smart”, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s beneficial to the rest of your body. For example, a product may be “low” in cholesterol and trans fats but heavily laden with sugars and salt.
